following the same question... if i buy 5000 shares IOM on the bid with RT3, i'm guessing that the time & sales shows it as a sale, i.e. red in color. (would someone correct me if i am wrong on that?) but regardless of how t&s shows it, who is correct in labeling my 5k buy as a sale? let's remember when someone says that there was "strong buying at eod", it can also be said that mm's were getting rid of excess product. and conversely, when we see all red, and "sellers" are everywhere, often there are mm's there scooping it all up gladly.

and so, to an extent i agree with the statement "The price at which it was traded gives you a clue on the traders motivation.". imo, following the track of whether it was a buyer or seller is not time well spent, and is inconclusive.
