I'm certainly not against the use of government incentives towards business. But this one seems like lunacy. Instead, why not give them the break iff they meet some other alternate energy goal - such as a certain cost level for solar panels. If we could drive solar panel costs down to, say, $2K/kw, so many more people could take advantage. Or fuel cells. Even clean coal. Heck, even subsidized costs on replacing old furnaces and air conditioners would be a better use of such an incentive.

But, I guess I just don't think like an oil man. Thank God.
