Bernie,

Let me give you this message one last time:

If I want to take profit on my INTCW shares (bought at $11, split adjusted, in Feb/March 1995) at today's closing price ($97.75), it will be a gain of 798%--I sure don't worry about the 1% commission paid to a full-service broker. These guys supplied me with important market information and executed my orders promptly within "minutes", if not "seconds". I think they deserve this fee. With these guys I wont have to worry about their delaying my orders on a rapidly down-sliding market, milking out on the spread, or "jammming up" the computer/phone system deliberately during a market crisis (when I most need them). I am sure you have heard as many horror stories re. some discount firms as I have.

I am not here to advocating full service vs discount houses or vice versa. It is just that, for me, the use of quality brokers better suits my investment approach.

Good luck,
Ibexx

PS: Aren't you glad you didn't flip the INTC shares for a fraction of a point?

PPS: "shorting against the box" is as simple as ABC, of course you might not hear about these ideas doing e-trade.
