It's because RIMM makes the little two way pagers that every daytrading junkie is now given free if they deposit $20k into an account at nearly every brokerage on the planet. I've played around with one, and it is cute, but it doesnt mean the company deserves a 400 P/E. This is the exact same reason that phone.com stock went through the roof before collapsing. All the new digital cellular phones that came out over the last two years had a built in web browser made by phone.com. It was the splash screen whenever you logged in. Didn't matter that the business was unprofitable, its what tens of thousands of daytraders saw whenever they turned on their new phone. When someone is trading stocks on their new RIMM blackberry device, it's not a coincidence that they decide RIMM would make an interesting trade.
