Was not Civil Rights of Blacks a Constitutional Issue ? I seem to recall the Militia going into the South to enable desegregation. If it had been left to the States to decide we still would have a segregated South. When the rights of citizens are threatened then I think it appropriate that the Courts to jump in... At first it would be just what civil rights was... BUT in time people adjust. An interracial couple hardly warrants a glance anymore. In time ....when the younger generation grows that which was unthinkable becomes palatable by acceptance that it just IS.. IMO.. I had several students commit suicide because of fear of being gay. I never want to see this happen again.
