Lots of politicians have turned out quite different from what they appeared while campaigning ... for a US example, Arthur was a member of the pro-patronage wing of his party, which was split between them and reformers who wanted a merit system in the civil service ... elected as vice, Garfield gets shot, it's expected that Arthur will set everything back to the dark ages, but no, he turns out quite the reformer, one of the very few politicians for whom Mark Twain had anything resembling praise - en.wikipedia.org

Potatos - today i was cutting off fir roots where they're invading the garden, got an unused strip along one side, and potatos in mind for it, should be room for four eighty-foot rows ... can't grow them in the main part, too much horse manure too recently, spuds only want a little bone meal, make their own nitrogen ... but yeah, thinking like that for sure, along with the rest of the world |
