Copytalk Opens i705 Beta; Any Palm(TM) I705 User Now Can Dictate Email and Other Information and Have The Results Delivered Directly to Their Handheld Computer PR Newswire ~ April 2, 2002 ~ 2:00 am EST
SARASOTA, Fla., April 2 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Copytalk(TM) announced today that its beta program for Palm, Inc.'s (Nasdaq: PALM) i705 handheld computer is now open to all i705 owners, expanding on the limited beta program that has been in place since the i705's launch in January.
Combining Copytalk and the Palm(TM) i705 provides a breakthrough in sending email while mobile. Subscribers simply call and dictate the email. Copytalk transcribes it, then pushes it to the i705 to be confirmed and sent. The Copytalk service also works with contacts, appointments, to-dos, and expenses, creating a breakthrough in the mobile experience not available with any other device and service.
Copytalk is the first third party to support the notification capabilities of the Palm.Net(R) infrastructure and the Palm i705.
How Copytalk works with the Palm i705 handheld
Copytalk subscribers download and install the free Copytalk software and call Copytalk support to activate the notification service. Then they call Copytalk's toll free number and dictate naturally, as though leaving a message for a personal assistant. Copytalk transcribes the dictation and notifies the i705, which then retrieves the information from Copytalk.
Copytalk Email
Copytalk allows subscribers to dictate free form messages on any subject to anyone with an email address, even those not already in a contact list or address book. Unlike other "email by phone" services, Copytalk email is not limited to "canned" messages, nor is it sent as a voice attachment with limited compatiblity.
About Copytalk
Copytalk is the first and only service that allows mobile professionals to send email with any content to any person using simple, unstructured and untrained dictation over the phone. Contacts, appointments, tasks, expenses and notes also may be dictated. Copytalk then sends the email as though it came from the user's desktop and adds information to the handheld computer's applications as though it had been entered by hand.
