I saw some lagostina at Costco which I dutifully checked out today-It looked very good!- and then I went to Tuesday Morning at Freddy's suggestion and they had a 10 piece commercial stainless steel (which everyone here seems to believe is the best) with glass lids Calphalon set for 299.00
I rushed home and checked online and it seems to run between 370 and 500 so I rushed back and bought it!
Now I am terrified.
It looks so new and clean and expensive.
I got out my old stuff and wonder how I ever cooked in front of people with it. It is Revereware for the most part, only I never polished the copper bottoms and they are sort of disgusting, and there is some flaking Walmart Teflon, and some things I will keep- like my mother's big iron frypan, which is irreplaceable. BUt there is this unbelievably ugly pot in Harvest Gold that remains from my first marriage. Maybe I should fill it with blue flowered Corningware and get rid of it all.
And yet-
I find myself hugging these pots and remembering that I cooked the boys' first food in these. Some of my worst meals were made in these pots. I once tried to fry chicken in 1/8" of oil in that Revereware frypan- it doesn't work. These pots have gone the distance in my 25 year old marriage.
Perhaps I'll just stack them on top of all that damn worthless tealeaf china and hope someday they will be valuable too.
Not that Harvest Gold or Avocado Green is likely to come back in style-ever.

But about woks- I have an electric one! What Indian meals do you cook? I am really interested!
