The problem with JIT (just in time) inventory planning which many of Intel's customers have transitioned to (and which initially caused Intel much pain as things cleared out) is that if your forecasting ability isn't very precise it can turn into AIT (almost in time inventory) <ggg>.

Don't know if that's what happened here but it well could be.
