I think the deregulation will be a long process and till then there is virtually no competition or incentive for the telcos to pursue broadband access (except two-way cable might be a threat, but only 25% of current cable network is two-way and the cable guys are not very enthusiastic either). Then there is pricing policy, which is I think a bigger hurdle than technology itself. The matter is how long can investors (especially the mutual funds managers) wait. Will they (we) lose patience (since there are lots of other network companies to buy, they are all overpriced these days however)? Are we way ahead of ourselves??? Just my 2 cents.
