Re: Oracle Faster on Linux than NT2000 There used to be some audited benchmarks for some kind of web measurement comparing Linux vs Microsoft, and sometimes one or the other would win, and since they were audited, I always felt they were pretty trustworthy. I seem to recall that results turned out to be highly dependent on whether you were using net card A or net card B, this tcp stack or that one, this service pack of nt or that one. It would be interesting to see Linux vs Solaris vs NT on the same hardware, all using Oracle; I doubt we'll see that, but no one really knows how it would turn out if you tried to optimize all three because there aren't any audited benchmark results like that. If you look for database vs database benchmarks, it is very rare or impossible to see database benchmarks on equivalent hardware (and never with the same OS) comparing say Oracle vs SQL Server vs DB2 on NT. -nick posting for myself
