I don't use Etrade because I like to be able to trade from my car during the day (at times) and not be tied down to my computer. My Quotrek and cell phone makes that possible. I am not going to debate the merits of full service versus discount brokers, but you are right that most full service (well, at least MANY) earn their whopping commissions and deserve to be paid if they give the advice. I have a friend who works for Merrill and he laughed when I told him that I can trade thousands of shares of any stock for $20. He quoted me about $900 to trade it (one way) with him under their most expensive full service plan (he did agree that better clients get discounts...still putting the cost in the $300 range). If I was not somewhat market savvy and needed advice to buy for the long haul, then I suppose paying 45 times the discount commission would be worth it. He can have a yacht as long as I have three yachts!

I admit to "flipping" some shares from 129 to 131 today and missing the bulk of the run. I still have my "long term" shares bought yesterday at 131 and change that I will keep for the intermediate term. Ibexx, you have to realize that my long term investments are in mutual funds, many that move in relation to technology investments. I was looking for a vehicle to TRADE and to improve my trading skills. Intel fits that bill. I have traded on and off since '90 with only fair results. In May, I decided to do this full time and gave myself some rules to follow. I've done very well, and hope to improve much more as time goes on. I guess I own Jack some tuition to his trading school...now there's where 45 times a discount broker's fee would be justified. If I ever get down to his neck of the woods, I certainly will take him to the best restaurant in town (are you listening, Jack)?

By the way, I suspect that there is more umphh to INTEL and that the poor overall market kept it back. It could hit 150 sooner than we all thought.
