<< establish its brand name and add content and services >>
A lot may be being said in this statement.
Frankly, when I see a movie, now I rarely pay attention to the studio producer. However, in looking at cinema history, I could see that it mattered a great deal, in financing and in box office draw, whether, Fox or MGM was the source. Early TV was the same. CBS and NBC were always the choice for prime time. Now, who cares.
Since the Net delivers the choice to the "click" of the consumer, branding and content will be mere important than ever. Services will be a given - probably packaged and priced a la cart. As in other Net experiences, the consumer will vote and benefit the most. However, that "click" will generate competition like no one ever saw.
But, oh that content. TVontheWeb and Aen-TV are in the process of defining one form of appropriate and possible content. I am just beginning to get a glimmer of what others talk about when they cite Ed Bramson's vision of the future of the Net.
