But he's still a terrific source of intelligence that should not be executed just yet..

I doubt if he knows much about the insurgents who have infiltrated into Iraq after his departure. I think he and his protectors were busy with keeping him hidden.

It is a very tough call to make on what to do with him. Public execution may cause jubilation in Iraq but may infuriate the terrorists worldwide. Keeping him in custody and executing him on the quiet could also prove to be good. It is a tough call none the same.

But as minimum, what the US should do is give him a bath, give him a shave, photograph him and show the photograph to the Iraqis.

It would be interesting to see if this would help the coalition (France, Germany, Russia) to come together with the US/UK on Iraq. They are with the US on Afghanistan and Al Qaeda. But on Iraq, it is still a open question. I am sure they will come together, if they see that the US is genuinely interested in getting out of Iraq completely and leave the situation to the Iraqis and the UN, Nato, Arab League etc.

Significant that the Loya Jirga in Afghanistan is starting today and that the Americans are not approaching the Afghan situation of handing over power as it is ding in Iraq. At least not yet.
