Good point. The benefit of a camera is not just the convenience of immediate ability to snap a photo, it's also the ability to immediately share it with others . . . over a broadband network. Same goes for video. The benefit of a phone's mp3 player is not only the ability to play music, it's also the ability to download music directly to the phone's mp3 player . . . over a broadband network.

Key to the attractiveness of these add-on features is the ability to network. But for CDMA or WCDMA, there would no such network with the capability to adequately handle the bandwidth that these services will demand in the future. JMO.
