Willem Dafoe Announces Exciting New Role Where He Will Play Someone Weird

HOLLYWOOD, CA — According to multiple sources, screen actor Willem Dafoe has signed a deal with Paramount Pictures to take on an exciting new role where he plays someone weird.

Dafoe, known for the roles of eccentric federal agent Paul Smecker in The Boondock Saints, deceased method actor-turned-afterlife detective Wolf Jackson in Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, and Vincent van Gogh in At Eternity's Gate, is reportedly excited to stretch himself to play a character that's creepy and unsettling.

"This is completely different from my other work," Dafoe said. "Playing a deformed Frankenstein figure in Poor Things was so pedestrian. I'm excited to finally play a weird role."

Critics believe playing someone weird may be just the boost Dafoe needs to expand his range into other, weirder roles. "Willem is a Hollywood legend, but he's shown very limited range," said film critic Richard Roeper. "Throughout his career, he has only played characters ranging from a little bit weird to substantially weird, so I'm interested in what playing a really, really weird role can do for him."

At publishing time, Dafoe expressed disappointment that his new role of Dr. Johnathan Henderson, a medical doctor who puts dead bodies back together and implants them with robot brains, wasn't weird enough.
