New Holland top Danish harvester brand in "99
COPENHAGEN, Sept 24 (Reuters) - Sales in Denmark of U.S. farming machinery maker New Holland"s combine harvesters fell 36 percent this year but the brand remained the best-seller with 152 units, Danish agricultural weekly Landsbladet reported on Friday.

Overall sales of combine harvesters in Denmark fell 31 percent, the weekly said, citing figures compiled by the agricultural machinery importers" association LIB.

Massey Ferguson, part of U.S. Agro Corp(NYSE:AG - news), was the only one of the five leading manufacturers on the Danish market to keep combine harvester sales at last year"s level. It sold 115 units.

John Deere"s (NYSE:DE - news) sales fell 39 percent to 49 units.

German Claas"s sales of combiner harvesters in Denmark dropped 45 percent to 84 units.

In 1990-1999, Claas sold 1,125 combine harvesters to farmers in Denmark compared with 1,022 for New Holland, 574 for Massey Ferguson and 545 for John Deere, the LIB figures showed.
