PLANO, Texas, Jun 4, 1999 (BUSINESS WIRE via COMTEX) -- Windows NT software specialists Greyware Automation Products, today announced an agreement with Compaq Computer Corporation, Houston, to provide their premiere "Domain Time" network time synchronization software for use on all Compaq internal systems.
"Domain Time" is a Windows NT-based service that keeps all servers and workstations on a network in synch with global time sources via the Internet. The agreement provides for installation of "Domain Time" on Compaq's internal network systems worldwide, including over 45,000 workstations/servers.
"When Compaq went in search of a reliable time solution for the internal enterprise, we turned to 'Domain Time' from Greyware," said Robert E. Decker of Compaq's Platform Technology Group. "It was simple, robust, and priced well for the enterprise. It also resolved issues we had with mobile users."
Unlike time utilities that run stand-alone, "Domain Time" allows administrators to ensure that systems throughout the enterprise are automatically kept in synch with a central time source.
It's About Time Ensuring accurate time has become vital throughout the enterprise for email date/time stamping, time reporting systems, automated backup, and many other uses. Unfortunately, this is a complex problem for network managers, who must deal with a wide variety of platforms, operating systems, and remote users.
"In working with Greyware, they met all of our special requirements, allowing us the option to deploy throughout the enterprise and also support our large deployment of AlphaServers," said Decker.
Benefits: -- Y2K Insurance -- Many computers have BIOS problems that prevent
them from changing to the year 2000 correctly. "Domain Time" corrects for this type of error automatically.
-- Plays Well with Others -- "Domain Time" runs on Windows NT
(Intel/Alpha), and includes Win95/98 clients. Standard time
protocols are used so that Macintosh, UNIX, and OS/2 systems can also be synchronized.
-- Highly Accurate -- "Domain Time" obtains the current Universal
Coordinated Time via the Internet and adjusts for network delays
with accuracy up to one millisecond. Pricing and Availability "Domain Time" v1.5 is $65 and available for download www.greyware.com. Quantity discounts and Site/Enterprise Licenses are available.
