When I still worked I worked for a foreign multi national. The official language was English for meetings - even in their home country. I traveled around the world in my job and English always worked in business settings. Tours away from main cities were a challenge - but that would be the case for almost any foreign national.

Teaching a young person English is giving them a great gift. In addition to teaching the language - teaching its proper use and pronunciation is very important.
