Rice University computer scientist Moshe Vardi warns of a dystopian future in 30 years when humans become largely obsolete and world joblessness stands at 50 percent.

So, this is more of the 'just because you can do it, you should do it' rubbish. How does this differ in its nature from ideas like Globalism, or eugenics?

What is the actual value for society in automating all low skill work? Reversion to the mean with respect to IQ is still reality.

I should like to make Bezos and the Google managers answer the question.

Haven't they considered the consequences for them? And I'm not thinking of the economic consequences. Do they want to live in high security zones all their lives? Never walk the streets? Live like in Brazil - where the well to do are always in danger of kidnapping and other violence?

Do they really expect the government of the US to protect them against the underclass they will be creating? Do they really think they can buy the US congress, or the British or French parliaments, to that extreme degree? How large will the police forces have to be? And what will their nature be compared to police today?

So in twenty years, what does an idle but 100 IQ 20 year old kid, who is the product of a useless education, do for "fun"? One thing he could do is shut down every automated system in a large city and never touch a computer to do it.

And if a kid can do it what about inimical official and unofficial political powers?

I really don't think these folk have thought through implications of their projects.
