So, Mrs. Peel. Keep moving those turtles. I'm curious about the bad turtle karma, but maybe I wouldn't want to hear about it!! (o: I will gladly tell you the story of the "bad turtle karma" to work off... I recently told someone else about this....years ago, when I was driving my daughter to an appointment...we came upon a box turtle near the edge of the road obviously ready to cross ( it was a 2 lane residential street) she saw it and said, 'mommie stop and get the turtle" (as it was my normal habit)....I told her no....not this time, we were running late for an appt....and that I felt the turtle would be fine... Upon our return....yes... the turtle was crushed on the opposite side of the road and of course my daughter saw it and just burst into tears and scolded me mercilessly...(I burst into tears too)... It took several days before she "forgave me" for not listening to her and doing my "duty" to save the turtle's life...I promised her that from then on, when I would come across a turtle in the road....I would stop for it, take it in the car, and release it in the woods... I have "caught and released" many a turtle over the years...including snapping turtles... I will never be able to see a turtle on the road and not think of my daughter's expression of disdain... <g> she's a grown woman now...she still love turtles and all other animals... and I * think * she still likes me.... :)
