Founding Fathers knew of the tendency for governments to develop useless layers

Mancur Olson was one of the thinkers that pounded that theme pretty hard. Rent seekers and incompetent legislators add layers of sludge that accumulate and eventually destroy successful orders.

It's been happening all my life and the process is accelerating. There's a lot of smart people relying on intuition instead of qualified guidance blissfully unaware.
