Gibbogle, Re: "trifiling US losses" WWI was not ideological but an accident, a big mistake that happened after 100 years that were probably the most productive and peaceful in human history. WWII was was a reaction to the threat of international communism plain and simple.

JFK and LBJ were Democrats and had the support of the American left and both were elected in opposition to much more conservative Republicans, Goldwater maybe the most conservative presidential candidate since Robert Taft. Such are the facts.
