While spending billions annually to fight climate change, The pumps at the Sacramento-San Joaquin River Delta are limited by mechanical capacity and species protections. That article was a pretty good summary about some of the things that ail California.
Buried in it are two of the more outrageous issues mismanaged by the amateurs in Sacramento.
California has been in drought conditions for a few years, yet millions of gallons of water are diverted to the ocean rather than to the farms in the San Joaquin Valley. Why? Because of an inch-long darter fish that the Greens want to save.
And billions are spent fighting climate change. Why? To make Tom Steyer and Al Gore richer.
What wasn't mentioned was the Billions spent so far on the high speed rail that nobody wants. And who is the beneficiary of that largess? Diane Feinstein's husband, whose company is in charge of building the rail line.
And the sad part is what the future holds. California universities have been taken over by the Greens, Climatistas, Progressives, etc. Our future engineers, geologists, scientists - the STEM kids - are all being brainwashed. Their focus in solving problems will be to save the darter fish first, stop the climate from changing, and undamaging the environment.
This used to be a beautiful state. But Governor Brown, who's been in some office or another since the 70s, and his ilk have ruined it. The San Joaquin Valley used to be America's food supplier, but it lies fallow because the water that used to supply it, is diverted to the ocean in order to save the one-inch darter fish (the poor little fish gets caught in the pumps and dies). You can drive for 4-5 hours on Highway 5 or 99 through the valley and see dead grape vines, empty fields, brush and weeds for mile after mile. |
