THE DEAD SEA SCROLLS CONFIRM THE INERRANCY AND THE DIVINE KEEPING OF THE SCRIPTURES.
The Dead Sea Scrolls were discovered in the Qumran caves approx. 50 years ag. They dated the Scrolls unsing radio-carbon and philogical analysis of the ancient Hebrew in the text. The Scrolls date back to 200 B.C. to 50 A.D. Fragments from every book in the Bible, including the Apocrypha (the extra books in the Catholic Bible) except the book of Esther were found.
They found a complete Scroll o the entire book of Isaiah. The Book was complete. THE MARVELOUS THING ABOUT THIS DISCOVERY WAS THAT THE TEXT IS IN ALL ESSTIAL POINTS IDENTICAL TO THE TEXT WE HAVE TODAY--including the Greek, the Latin and the King James.
The liberals, the atheists and others that oppose the Bible love to tell us that the Scriptures have been copied and recopied hundreds of times and that we dont know what the original looked like. Here is archaelogical and scientific proof that God does indeed keep and protect His Word. ---------------------------------------------
On another point. Did you know that the Jews in Alexandria, Egypt officailly translated the OLD Testament from the Hebrew to the Greek in approx. 300 B.C. Ptolemy, the King of Egypt, took 70 Rabbi's and isolated them from one another and told them to translate the OT from Hebrew to Greek. Since the conquest of Alexander the Great, Greek had become the language of the world. Because of the 70 Rabbis used in the translation, they called the Old Testament translation the Septuagint--meaning 70 in Greek. Ptolemy was delighted with the work because it was in agreement. The Greek speaking Jews of Egypt and the Greek world were delighted to have such a great and faith translation in their adopted tongues.
Did you know that by tracing the word usage and phraseology Philogist have determined that Jesus used mostly the Septuagint version of the Septuagint Bible. All of the New Testament Books were written in Greek except the Gospel ofMatthew. The early Christians, including the Roman Christians, almost exclusively used the Greek version of the Bible for the first 300 years. Then Rome began to claim authority over the whole Church and translated the Greek Bible into Latin in the 4th century.
THE IMPORTANT THING TO REMEMBER HERE IS THAT THE CHRISTIAN CHURCH HAS HAD AN OFFICAIL COPY OF THE OLD TESTAMENT FROM 300 B.C. AND AND OFFICAIL COPY OF THE NEW TESTAMENT SINCE THE FIRST CENTURY. THE GREEK VERSION OF THE BIBLE STILL SURVIVES TODAY. IT MEANS THAT EVEN BEFORE THE DEAD SEA SCROLLS WE HAD A VERY RELIABLE ORIGINAL OF THE SCRIPTUES SURVIVAL ALL THESE CENTURIES. WE CAN ALWAY COMPARE OUR NEW TRANSLATIONS TO THE ORIGINAL GREEK. |
