What's the winning formula? More power than you've seen in a word processor, wrapped in a clean, approachable interface, integrated with an office suite that gets our vote over MS Office. As the core application, WordPerfect bristles with useable features: the property bar that serves up the tools you need at every point; a Win95-like task bar that lets you move between open documents -- dragging and dropping text, if you like; fully formatted file previews as you navigate around a directory.

It's interesting to note that WordPerfect Suite 7 was not received the way Suite 8 has been so far. If WP8 keeps getting good reviews one after the other, I can only imagine that sales are going to be much better than WP7. Still waiting for the PC Mag review.

I'm also quite amazed that with a 80M or so R&D budget, that Corel not only can come up with Draw 7, but came out with a product such as WordPerfect Suite 8 only 12 months after taking the product from Novell. And if Suite 8 isn't better than Office 97, it is at least just as good. Microsoft would probably need 80M to start thinking about an upgrade let alone produce one.
