It is NO COINCIDENCE that August 27, 2001 was the press release date from Manuel Asensio in which he stated the following: "Asensio & Company...deny the statements referring to them by Research Frontiers in the press release today. It has not recommended that any of its customers repurchase any REFR shares...sees no remote reason to even consider changing its negative REFR opinion." Message 16266167 The press release Asensio was referring to stated: "In Mid March... Asensio initiated a meeting with...Research Frontiers...he indicated he was acting on behalf of a client with a short position...Mr. Asensio noted that covering such short position in the open market would cause the price of Research Frontier's stock to go up, thereby causing the short seller of such short position to lose money....then requested that Research Frontiers...sell stock directly in order to permit.. seller to cover...position."
