Thursday March 18, 2:20 am Eastern Time CMGI to let Lycos-USA deal face shrholder vote-WSJ NEW YORK, March 18 (Reuters) - CMGI Inc., a vocal opponent of the proposed merger of Lycos Inc (Nasdaq:LCOS - news). and USA Networks Inc. (Nasdaq:USAI - news), plans to let the deal face a shareholder vote instead of immediately proposing an alternative deal, the Wall Street Journal said on Thursday. Officials of Internet company CMGI Inc., which holds about 20 percent of Lycos' shares, told the newspaper they are confident they will get the votes needed to defeat the plan. The vote is expected in July. Since the deal was announced, Lycos shares have fallen amid investors' fears that the merger does not appropriately value Lycos. The Internet portal's stock closed down 3- at 101-3/4.
