This article shows what companies spend on R&D. It was done before the merge and I found it interesting to see COMS spending 10% of their revenue on R&D and USRX spending only 5.5%. Seems to me that 5.5% was a little low, but considering new product developments USRX had in 1996 I guess one can't really put much emphasis on it.
