ARET - ARETE INDUSTRIES INC - Retains Stock Enterprises as Investor Relations & Media Consultant

New York, New York, Sep. 11, 2000 (Market News Publishing via COMTEX) -- Arete
Industries, Inc., announced that the Company has retained Stock Enterprises,
Inc. of Las Vegas, to assist in fulfillment of Arete's Investor Relations (IR)
programs, to pursue financial and market support and exposure within the
broker-dealer community, to develop dialogue with micro-cap analysts, as well as
with the media, institutional investors, and individual investors.

(Photo: newscom.com ) Las Vegas-based
Stock Enterprises had previously served in this role during 1998-99 after the
change in control. Stock Enterprises' President, James Stock, is a former
Registered Investment Professional, and was previously a senior executive with
Lamborghini USA.

Stock commented, "Having recently gotten reacquainted with senior management,
and thoroughly reviewed Arete's new Business Plan and restructured company, I am
convinced that Arete Industries has a real chance of achieving its financial
objectives. Arete's Aggression Sports subsidiary is especially appealing,
offering significant near-term revenue potential in the specialty outdoor sports
product line. Their unique and innovatively designed products could be regarded
as 'trail-blazing.' I especially like the SnowFangs(TM) which, for the winter
trekking enthusiasts, should be a hot seller."

Arete CEO and president, Tom Raabe, stated, "We welcome the return of Stock
Enterprises during a period of rapid growth of our company. With everyone in
management deeply involved in operational issues, we certainly need help
fulfilling our duty to keep the market and our shareholders informed of
important developments. Jim Stock's hard working, straight forward and high
profile approach is just what we need to get the word out about our Company and
to open new doors in the retail brokerage community. I am pleased that Jim Stock
has expressed confidence in our future potential, and all of us will be working
hard to deliver on that potential."
