Michael, thanks for your post on Singapore. I unfortunately have too little insight into SGP to comment knowingly about it. However, the concept of auction normally implies the market force sets the price for the good. Therefore, my only point is: Do the SGP government simply sets a price for these car purchase rights (maybe as a starting point for the auction) or is it the people/market forces were bidding only $50 for them?
