French will need a parka because Earth is cooling

Re: “Evidence is the on the side of climate change” by Diana French.

Yes, Ms. French, there is evidence on the side of climate change, and that evidence is becoming more and more observable that we are in for a long cold snap lasting the next 25 to 30 years.

Simply jump on your laptop computer and check it out for yourself.

There is a fine article that can be found at www.globalresearch.ca called “Global Cooling is here” which is written by Professor Don J. Easterbrook of the Department of Geology, Western Washington University.

The article in very succinct fashion explains the correlation between both the Pacific Decadal Oscillations and North Atlantic Oscillations and the subsequent global warming or cooling trends.

Basically the correlation says that when the two oceans are in a warm temperature mode the world experiences “global warming” and conversely goes into “global cooling” when in a cool temperature mode.

Easterbrook has tracked this correlation with global warming and cooling periods over the last 15,000 years.

During the period from 1977 to 1998 the oceans were in a warm temperature mode which resulted in “global warming.”

Since 1998 the average world temperatures have not warmed, but in fact dropped slightly until 2007/2008 when the global temperature dropped between 0.65C and 0.75C, (depending on area), completely wiping out most of the global warming recorded over the last 100 years.

The oceans oscillate between warming and cooling every 25 to 30 years. According to NASA satellite imagery, the Pacific Decadal Oscillation has now switched to a cooling trend, effective 2008. (As a note, this past Cariboo winter has been one of the longest and coolest I’ve experienced in many years).

Another fine set of articles can be found at www.dailytech.com, which are compiled by Michael Asher.

The articles this time show a correlation between sun spot activity and “global warming.”

In the compiled articles, several scientists, including Canada’s very own Dr. Kenneth Tapping (a solar researcher and project director for Canada’s National Research Council), have found that sun-spot activity has all but vanished, resulting in cooler global weather patterns.

The scientists claim that solar activity is a much larger driver of climate change than anthropogenic C02 emissions, which account for only .0008 per cent of atmospheric C02.

Dr. Tapping is concerned that if sun spot activity remains dormant, we will soon be heading for a “Little Ice Age.”

According to the University of Illinois Artic Climate Research Centre’s satellite observations of the Northern and Southern Hemisphere Polar Regions, arctic sea ice has rebounded to levels not seen since 1979, (article from January 2009).

As Easterbrook points out, “The real danger in spending trillions of dollars trying to reduce atmospheric CO2 is that little will be left to deal with the very real problems engendered by global cooling.” I concur.

Make sure you buy a new parka Ms French, you’re going to need it.
