William, Re: QCOM / S&P, and “As far as I could tell their was no new news in the report”

His “full” report is to follow, but from the brief I read my take is that he falsely thinks the Q’s new and expanded business from MOT are chipset orders for **CDMA** and suffer from MOT’s overall weakness. He apparently doesn’t realize that MOT has turned to QCOM for WCDMA chipsets that have been previously supplied by Freescale. This represents a complete new market for Qualcomm, and a huge opportunity to supply the world’s #2 handset maker with all tiers of WCDMA chipsets, thus permitting MOT to compete in 3GSM where it apparently was unable to using Freescale products.

Sad that a big outfit like S&P does not comprehend this basic issue and “unwittingly” perpetuates misunderstanding of Qualcomm’s business in the market place.
