Things have to find equi-librium*.

Copper can't go to 1 cent a lb. Wages and other costs have to match prices. If this is to happen then there will have to be pain. People will get laid off. There will be significant changes in society and government before wages and costs will match prices.

I don't think there is any quick fix. What tells me this is the fact that it costs about double the average man's wage to live well at all. People need about $2,500 a month after tax to afford the basics of life. That is $19.90 per hour before tax. Not many ordinary jobs pay that.

I was better off, i.e. saving more money when I was earning $1.50 an hour.

*Equi-librium as a designer drug for the economically dependent.
