The Shiites are lying in wait.

Some are, some are not. Folks like Sadr, who seek to use their father's name and martyrdom at Saddam's certainly are..

But folks like Al-Sistani, if we're reading him correctly, seem to believe that religion and politics should be segregated. Also, there is the grandson of the Ayatollah Khomeini, who seems to have rejected his grandfather's revolution and seems pro-American.

But the Shiites are not foolish, IMO.. Being predominantly Arabs, they have no real desire to subjugate themselves to Persians (Iranians), regardless of their religious commonalities..

And they know they are surrounded by hostile Sunnis and Wahhabists to the west and south who really have no desire to see a Shiite Theocracy come into being in Iraq.

Wouldn't you say the Sunnis are more peaceful that the Shiites?

That certainly hasn't been the case in Iraq, thus far..

It's the Wahhabists and Salafis one has to be mindful of. At various stages of their limited history, the Wahabbist and Salafi sects have massacred Sunnis, Shiites, and Sufis, considering them heretics to their fundamentalist view of Islam.

I think the US foreign policy should keep in mind that the Turks are also lying in wait in the North to quell the Kurds.

Well, the Turks had better behave themselves if they want to be invited to join the EU, let alone remain a member in good standing of NATO.

Once again, you have shown the most superficial of analytical logic in your post..

I'm about to put you on a temporary hiatus until you show me (in other forums) that you really have something of substance to offer..
