I will tell you. I know the corrupt influence of big money first hand. We all live under that gun. And politics is subject to crony-ism and backroom deals everywhere. We are not immune. I have seen both sides of the fence in my life. Getting ripped off and coming from a family that some would have accused of undue influence in bygone eras. I will warrant that we did not get government contracts for 200 years by being good looking. But we managed to keep them between different governments. Takes some doing. The IBM's Xeroxes, etc, and government will steal from their own mother's grave. They are totally devoid of morality. I can testify to that. At least all my family did was get government contracts, hire people, build stuff, publish stuff and spend the money. We did not steal. Guvmint did a fair bit of stealing from us however. We are all peons. We have to protect our nest and keep our heads down. It pays to have friends in high places. In my life I have seen damned few. I refuse to work for a living. :) It's a basic rip off if you know how to do more than tie your shoe laces.

Guy I knew came from a Bolivia. His family and few other Germans owned most of the Tin mines there. Most of those families spoke better English and German than they did Spanish. Downturns in prices and socialist governments forced them to leave. Mostly socialist governments. Now that was wise of the guvmints wasn't it? Kick out the people who know how to run mines and pays the government boys their salaries. Makes sense. Doesn't it?
