Regarding NOK's terminology that the older patents are "paid up" and "royalty free":

NOK implies that the early patents are only available to NOK royalty free because they have "paid up" for them. Any ideas on how this could be true short of the patents hitting their expiration date?

Did Q possibly sign a 1992 agreement that after 15 years these patents would be considered "paid up"? I realize it's only slightly relevant because there is so much newer essential ipr required today but I'm just trying to understand NOK's viewpoint.

Does anyone know the significance of the April 9 date wrt Q's early core patents? Or asked another way -- does anyone know why the contracted ended on the 9th of April rather than the end of a quarter?
