>If it were just a failed business, the execs would have been just fine. Lots of businesses fail here in Silicon Valley. The people involved just move onto other ventures or get hired by the big corporations into executive or management positions.

Yeah, but not all get government investment, so they're not all vilified in front of the American people. That changes the game.

They don't have to have anything, they're just looking for the Vince Foster type manufactured "scandals."

The fact is that the Obama administration made many investments in green energy related companies, and so far have lost 1.3% of the money. Not bad for venture capitalism. The Bush administration tried to fast track a loan for Solyndra but it didn't go through until Obama assumed office. Yes, George Kaiser (a centrist Republican up until he supported Obama; if I recall correctly he co-founded the Republican Leadership Council in 1997)'s foundation invested in Solyndra, but he didn't have any personal stake. In the meantime, the Walton family was the second biggest backer of Solyndra. But Solyndra was put together assuming the market was going one way, and it went another. It happens. I'm sure there was some irresponsibility involved by all of the parties, but that happens all the time in business and investing.

Seems like there's not a heck of a lot to see here.
