An interesting datapoint from the Q&A of the Sony Ericsson call....the analyst (didnt catch who) stated that he was hearing that operators were planning on moving to 100% 3G (WCDMA/HSDPA) procurement over the next 12-18 months and if Sony Ericsson was hearing the same thing. SNE didnt really answer the question, but it was interesting that we are getting to the point where this is even a possibility.

FWIW, SNE indicated that they had 17.5% of the WCDMA market during the first quarter.

Also, LG stated that they shipped around 1.5 million WCDMA handsets during the 1st quarter. This would have been less than 5% market share. Q certainly has plenty of upside if Samsung/LG can get better traction in WCDMA over the next six months.
