Thanks pezz.. thats really good to know. I don't intend to buy a house that needs foundation work, however there are a number of them around thanks to the quakes, and I assumed you could get a mortgage on them! I really shouldn't be buying an older home at all with all the maintenance involved since I have no idea what to do... but no choice around here. I think the real problem is that some of the nicest areas have houses that were built to last 30 years or so and now its been 50...
