Hi William,

Are 'athlete' stocks still athletes if they don't make their quarterly nums? I wasn't really in the markets in 1990-91 but I know that there are a lot of great companies out there only missing their nums because of the very harsh business environment. It is clear that we have hit a major IT/telecom spending air pocket but that doesn't change a great company into a lousy one. Just curious what your experience was back in 1991.

A new stat... There is a little less than $4 trillion in equity mutual funds... There is more than $2 trillion in money market funds... I don't know the historical relationship but it shows that in terms of total dollars, mutual fund investors are rather under-invested... (I don't have the fixed income mutual fund number off-hand)
