Company Press Release

LightPath CEO Leslie Danziger receives 1997 New Mexico Inventor of the Year Award

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 11, 1997--Leslie A. Danziger, chairman of LightPath Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq:LPTHA), has received the 1997 New Mexico Inventor of the Year Award, the company announced today. The annual award is given by the New Mexico Entrepreneurs Association.

Ms. Danziger received the award in recognition of her more than 13 years work in developing and optimizing GRADIUM(TM) glass, which is the only material that can ``steer'' light internally, collect and concentrate energy, separate wavelengths of high-speed data streams and be manufactured cost-effectively in all sizes and volumes. One element of GRADIUM glass can do the work of a system of conventional glass or plastic lenses -- with dramatically improved performance. Scientists had been attempting, without success, to develop a material such as
GRADIUM for decades.

With 13 patents, LightPath's GRADIUM glass technology is used in industry, telecommunications and other high- performance optics
applications. GRADIUM glass meets and anticipates emerging performance requirements of the medical imaging, computer networking, industrial laser, semiconductor inspection and optical storage industries.

Commenting on her receiving the award, Ms. Danziger said: ``This award is particularly meaningful to me because I was chosen by fellow
entrepreneurs and inventors -- people who have also struggled against steep odds to see their vision become a reality. I am deeply gratified for this honor.''

LightPath Technologies, Inc. manufactures GRADIUM materials at its headquarters facility in Albuquerque, New Mexico. LightPath common
stock trades under the NASDAQ stock symbol LPTHA. LightPath units, comprised of common stock and warrants, trade under the NASDAQ
stock symbol LPTHU.
