Akorn Launches First Full-Service Ophthalmic Website: Allows for Direct Purchases, Complete Product & Corporate Info
NEW ORLEANS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 10, 1998--At the annual meeting of The American Academy of Ophthalmology, Akorn, Inc. (Nasdaq: AKRN) today announced the unveiling of the Akorn full service website, at www.akorn.com. Attendees at this medical convention will have the opportunity to view the new website for the first time at the Akorn booth.
The Akorn website is the first full service ophthalmic Internet site, and includes Akorn corporate information as well as a link to Nasdaq. Most significantly, the website contains Akorn's full service catalog allowing professional customers to purchase ophthalmic pharmaceutical, surgical and medical office products directly over the Internet. The catalog, produced in conjunction with Amp e Merce, a leader in Internet catalog commerce, contains a state-of-the-art step search program which allows physicians to select products based on the characteristics of the product that they desire. The site also contains complete information about all marketed Akorn products. For example, background data on BioLon(TM), Akorn's new surgical product, will be a special feature for medical audiences in support of the product launch program. All information will be updated periodically.
