NEW SI FEATURES

Dear Silicon Investor Member:

I don't know about you, but I like eating the Thanksgiving leftovers almost as much as the feast itself. We've still got enough turkey and stuffing to last us a couple more days.

Speaking of stuffed turkeys, I want to apologize for the intermittent slowness and outages that we've had on Silicon Investor over the last couple weeks. The technical term commonly used to describe these problems is "Growing Pains". We've witnessed quite a bit of growth and activity over the last few weeks on the new Silicon Investor site - more than we expected. Although that's a "good problem" for us to have, it's still a problem, and we understand that it can be frustrating to you, our members.

So, in part, I wanted to let you know that we have dedicated our efforts to resolving these issues, and we expect to have the situation well in-hand shortly. Meanwhile, we greatly appreciate your patience. In fact, if you could spare a couple more minutes, I'd like to update you on a few items:

New Features
We've recently added a number of new features to Silicon Investor, and I'd like to highlight a couple of them here:

Free Real-Time Quotes
This has been one of the most frequently requested features, and now it's here! Simply select Real-Time Quote from the SI Navigation drop-down menu to sign up. It's free! You only have to complete the stock exchange click-through agreements, which is a quick and fairly painless process. It's cool because you can keep your SI RTQ window open as you cruise around the Internet - not that you should ever visit any other site, except SI, of course. :)

Ignore
Also a popularly requested (albeit hotly debated) item, the Ignore feature now exists within StockTalk. For instructions on how to use the Ignore feature, go to: siliconinvestor.com

Stock Screener
The Stock Screener helps you perform simple and advanced screens based on price, volume, fundamental and technical criteria. You can even save your favorite templates for instant screening upon future use. It's a great way to find the kind of stocks that are of most interest to you. Give it a try at: siliconinvestor.com

Classic SI Format Option
If you're still using the Classic SI, you may not have noticed these new features. You may also be wondering about the Classic SI Format Customization Option that we promised a while back. Well, the good news is that we are rapidly approaching the completion of that project. We'll have everyone running on the same platform, (which will, in itself, have a significant positive impact on the performance of SI). Those of you who prefer the Classic SI look and feel will be able to select a customization option that will mimic the look and feel of the old site within the StockTalk and Message Center sections of the new SI. As I mentioned at the start, it won't be an *exact* match, but it'll be pretty darn close, and you'll have access to all of the new features that we've integrated into the new SI.

Silicon Investor ThinkTank
I also want to briefly mention a new thread that we've started, called the Silicon Investor ThinkTank. Essentially, the purpose of this thread is to provide a concentrated forum for ongoing discussion, debate and feedback about the future of Silicon Investor, whether it be features, functionality or policies. I strongly encourage you to actively use it to let us know what you think. Check it out: Subject 31837

One last note:
A mass PM, such as this one, is one of the most effective and efficient ways that we have to communicate with our entire member base. So, we intend to start sending fairly regular messages via this medium (by regular, I only mean a couple times a month). Our intent is to update you on cool things that are happening within the site and/or the SI community. However, we are extremely sensitive to the fact that some of you may prefer not to receive such messages. So, if you'd rather have a hot stick poked in your eye than ever receive one of these PMs again, you can very simply put this alias (Silicon Investor) on your Ignore list. To do so:

Click on:
Member 7852101

Then, click on Ignore this Person

We will always send these types of communications from the Silicon Investor alias, so if you have it ignored, you won't get them. That way, you can ignore or un-ignore us at your discretion.

Of course, we hope that you'll actually enjoy what we have to say, or that you'll at least find it informative.

Thanks again for your ongoing support,

Bryan Burdick
Managing Director,
Silicon Investor
