Business Week ranked Samsung Electronics as the number one company in its top 100 IT firms list, it was reported Friday, followed by Taiwan's Quanta Computer and Hon Hai Precision. Other domestic players listed were KTFretel at number four, SK Telecom (9) and LG Telecom (43). The US Dell Computers grabbed fifth place, while Japan's Canon ranked 24th.

Japanese flagship electronic companies such as Sony, Matsushita and Toshiba failed to even squeeze in the IT 100.

In related news, the Wall Street Journal recently reported Samsung Electronics, which was once a mere sub-contractor of Sony, was leaping into the world's top brands based on its technologies in semiconductors, LCDs, DVD displays and cell phones. <<
