Nearly all business models are copycat business models in one way or another. The basic premise of trying to make income in excess of expenses has been around for ages.

The fact that no business that's purely message boards has published financials at all, whether profitable or not, is not proof that message boards have never been and never will be profitable.

I know you're not so narrow-minded that that simple truth escapes you.

If it suits you to think of message boards as losing propositions for their owners (hobbies, even), so be it. Why should you care? The "many a fool and his or her money" is actually very few people and you have no way of knowing whether or not they've lost their money in the endeavor. Seems to me Brad and Jeff probably did alright.

And my guess would be that INSP isn't doing too badly with it. It's a consumer business, which is an area they've supposedly abandoned, yet the URL continues to work, long after they said they were getting out of consumer business. Hmmmm......

Still, whether they're making or losing money, neither of us can say. Difference is, I can admit this. Better than claiming to know for certain they're losing money when you have no way of knowing that.
