PALO ALTO, CALIF. (March 30) BUSINESS WIRE -March 30, 1999--Credit Suisse First Boston Technology Group has announced that it is
advising PLATINUM technology International, Inc. (PLAT) on its acquisition by Computer Associates International, Inc. (CA).

Computer Associates said that it will pay $29.25 in cash for each share of PLATINUM, a premium of approximately 195% to PLATINUM's
closing stock price on Friday, March 26, 1999, implying an aggregate transaction value of more than $3.5 billion. This transaction represents the
largest software transaction in history.

In addition, Credit Suisse First Boston is the sole underwriter of a $4.5 billion credit facility for Computer Associates. Computer Associates, the
fourth-largest U.S. software company, is acting without a banker.

Credit Suisse First Boston Technology Group has recently been involved in many industry-defining transactions in the software industry including
acting as sole-manager for Citrix Systems, Inc. (CTXS) for an $850 million zero coupon subordinated debentures financing. The group was also
lead-manager on the initial public offerings for Onyx Software (ONXS) in February, raising $46.35 million, and Allaire (ALLR) in January, raising
over $57 million.

Furthermore, Credit Suisse First Boston Technology Group has been involved in other landmark technology M&A transactions such as
representing Northern Telecom in their acquisition of BayNetworks and Ascend Communications in their merger with Lucent Technologies.
