# The first week of May will be remarkably news-intensive.
# Central bank meetings and the U.K. election would be plenty for one week.
# Speculation of a widened band on the renminbi will be the dominant news.

The first week of May could possibly be one of the most important weeks for the year.

# No fewer than four central banks hold policy meetings.

# There is a national election in the U.K., a G-5 country.

# The U.S. jobs data at the end of the week not only set the tone for the economic data for the rest of the month but offer the first significant glimpse into the performance of the world's largest economy at the start of the second quarter.

# And as if this weren't enough, there is heightened speculation that China could announce a widening of the renminbi's band while its financial markets are closed May 2-6.
