PARIS -- Franco-British engineering group Alstom SA (ALS) said Monday
that it has got a EUR200 million contract to provide First Union Rail
Corporation with 3100 freight cars over a period of five years.

Alstom said in a statement that the cars will be built at the company's
Montreal plant, beginning this summer.

First Union Rail Corporation is the freight leasing arm of First Union National
Bank, which is owned by First Union Corp. (FTU).
