Most Wall Street research is promotional material intended to support their very lucrative investment banking business. The importance of marginal information is also greatly inflated in order to encourage trading.

You can sometimes find some very good information about what is really going on at a company here on SI that you don't get from Wall Street. Unfortunately, you have to sort through a lot of drivel that is either irrelevant or heavily biased by the poster's self-interest.

Nothing posted here can move a stock. Right or wrong, its Wall Street's views that influence stocks in the short run. If you're a trader, listen to Wall Street. In the long run, earnings are all that matter and that's where the tidbits of solid information found here can have real value to investors.
